MCS Third Grade Trout in the Classroom!

MCS Third Grade Trout in the Classroom!

MCS third grade is raising our third batch of trout! Our brook trout eggs were provided by SUNY Cobleskill on December 1, 2020 and began hatching on December 10th. The third graders have been watching the process all winter as our eggs hatched and the fish grew through the alevin stage and into the fry stage. Our approximately 150 brook trout are now getting close to release day. They are very large, colorful, active, and hungry! When school is in session, tune in between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. or 2:30-2:50 p.m. to catch our feeding times. Sometimes our fish get special worm treats around 1:40 p.m.

Special thanks to the Dave Brandt Chapter of Trout Unlimited for providing this opportunity for our students. We are also very thankful to MEF, Mr. Gregory, and Mrs. Gregory for making this live stream possible. Enjoy!  -
