Kristen Shearer
Superintendent of Schools

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. I am incredibly proud and humbled to have been chosen to serve as Milford’s next Superintendent.  Milford school is a vibrant place for our children to grow and learn. We are fortunate to have a talented, committed staff who value continuous improvement and a community that generously provides enthusiastic support.
This school year, we will focus on engagement, collaboration, and understanding our new normal. I can’t wait to get started.

We are very excited to welcome some new faces to our MCS family. Mr. William Hicks is our new 2nd-grade teacher, Mrs. Katheryn Vandusen is our new 3rd-grade teacher, and Mrs. Crystal Course joins us in the food service department. Mrs. Maria Bushek and Ms. Briana Rumovicz are teacher aides that joined us during the year. I am confident we will have our new principal on board in the very near future.
Congratulations to Ms. Ronna Clough, who retired from food services after 33 and a half years. Thank you for your commitment to MCS, we wish you well in your retirement.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Milford community. My husband David and I have lived in the upstate area for over 30 years and raised our two sons in Oneonta, NY. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the State University at Oneonta, and the School Building Level and School District Level Administrative Certifications from the State University at Cortland. I spent much of my career in Schenevus before gaining valuable experience in Schenectady, Eastchester, and Delhi Schools. I have served at both the building and district levels in curriculum & instruction, student services, and special education. I have a passion for learning and a love of reading.
In closing, please know you can reach me via email or by phone at 607-286-7721. I look forward to connecting with you through one of our many school community events.
To our students: I am delighted to have been chosen to be your new Superintendent.  An essential part of my job is to ensure that our school is a place where you feel connected, respected, and inspired.  I am eager to learn more about your experience as a student, including what classes you are taking, what extracurriculars you might be participating in, and what your goals are for the future. When you see me in the hallway, please say hello or stop by during a free period. You are always welcome in my office. Students are the nucleus of every school district. The entire school community is invested in your success. Our commitment to you, together with your dedication to hard work, makes for a powerful combination. Be the best you can be and take advantage of all that Milford has to offer.   Have a great year.

I am truly honored to join the Milford Central School family, as Principal, and look forward to working with the community closely to provide the best possible educational programs and a wonderful, inclusive, school community for all of our students. My professional career spans some 30 years in providing challenging, creative, and enjoyable experiences for all students, staff, and parents.  In addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a father and, yes, a grandfather.  I am a parent of two daughters.  I am coming to Milford from a one-year amazing teaching assignment in London, England. This move to Milford represents a return home to my home state of New York.
Previously, in New York, New Jersey, London and Pennsylvania, I was a principal for eight years, a high school and elementary special educator, a track and field coach, an elementary classroom teacher, a preschool teacher, a director of special education, and Committee on Special Education Chairperson. I was so fortunate to enjoy all these unique experiences. Each and every position taught me amazing skills that I value. As principal of Milford, I see myself as a caring hands-on leader with an open-door policy.
I am looking forward to meeting with everyone.  The thought of this is exciting and energizes me, while at the same time, it humbles me.  Please know that I believe Milford Central is destined for great things and I am thrilled to take this journey.Words can’t express how overjoyed I am to be part of our school and community!
